The underlaying base system is based on hydroponic layouts for the cultivation of plans with/without the use of natural soils. This systems has been extended by a number of features in order to contribute to a negative carbon dioxide foot print, the main goal of the design is namely to improve quality of life in closed areas such as lobbies, offices, restaurants, etc.. This is achieved by refreshing ambient air, reduction of air pollutants, reduction of CO2 and replenishment of O2. The lighting system features a solar tracking system, which captures the sun light via a sophisticated sun tracking lens system. The sun light is guided along fiber optical strands in to the building up to the breathing wall. This leads to zero emission lighting during day time hours. In addition it increases ambient light levels without contributing to heat load etc. and is practically maintenance free. A optional nano coating of the exterior lens array reduces cleaning requirements. The secondary system is a low power water recirculation systems that can either be power by photovoltaic systems or from the regular power grid. The water system is a semi closed system to reduce water loss and can be theoretically fed by AC condensate water. In this case a balanced fertilizer system for remineralization via Hoagland Solutions would be required. The benefits are that no potable water is wasted and that humidity which is previously stripped from ambient air would added to increase the quality of air. |
| The teritiary system is a air circulation system, that aspirates ambient air and passes it trough the wall system. By doing so the air is stripped from pollutants, re-humidified and cooled trough the effect of evaporative cooling along the air path. In general temperature gradients of of to 15 Kelvin can be achieved without additional energy investment. |
